Flora in Slovak paradise

Slovak paradise90%, almost the whole territory of Slovak paradise (Slovensky raj) is covered by forest. Majority of the plant cover consist of Spruce (Picea abies), Silver Fir (Abies concolor), Larch (Larix Decidua), sometimes Yew (European Yew – Taxus baccata). Pines find themselves on the limestone rocks. Broadleaved trees can be found in the souther parts of Slovenský raj, mostly the Europen Beech, European Hornbeam, Sycamore Maple, European Ash and occasionaly Oak trees. The original structure of the forests of Slovenský raj is changed in many places, Beech and Fir is replaced by Spruce.

At the bottom of valleys and canyons can be found montane plants, e. g. Cortus Matthioli. Southern limestone rocks are home for thermophilic plants, e. g. Erysimum Wittmani and Pasqueflower. Other represented kinds are Safran Heuffelianus, Snowdrops, Primulas, Soldanella Carpatica, Campanulas, Spotted Orchid, Lunaria Rediviva, Geranium Argenteum, Chrysanthemum leucanthemum, Thymus Vulgaris, Leontopodium Alpinum, Gilia Tricolor (Bird's Eye) and many others. In the wetlands you can find particularly Caltha Palustris (Marsh Marigold) and other wetland spieces.
